MEET KATY PATERSON

Travel shaped by firsthand experience.

Australia • New Zealand • Asia & Beyond

A lifetime of travel, with a decade spent living abroad.

Katy joined RSMLVTravel in 2023, bringing more than thirty years of personal travel experience and a perspective shaped by a decade spent living overseas in Australia and Singapore.

Her love of travel began during a college semester abroad in Granada, Spain, and continued through years of living, traveling and raising a family abroad.
Those experiences give Katy an especially strong knowledge of Australia, New Zealand and Asia, along with extensive experience throughout Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean and the United States.

Katy brings that same curiosity to the trips she plans for her clients—helping them discover new places while making the experience feel personal, well-paced and easy from beginning to end.

Meet Katy

AUSTRALIA + NEW ZEALAND

Far away doesn't have to feel complicated.

Australia isn't simply a destination Katy knows—it's a place she called home.

During her years living in Sydney, Katy explored well beyond the city—from the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley and New South Wales coastline to Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, the Whitsundays and Tasmania. With an Australian husband and family and friends still Down Under, she continues to return regularly.

Her travels through New Zealand have taken her from Wellington and Christchurch to Wanaka, glacier country, Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park and Queenstown—giving her firsthand perspective on how to connect these destinations into a trip that flows.

KATY'S FAVORITES

If you're going that far, these are worth the journey.

A must when visiting Australia. Cairns, Port Douglas and the Whitsundays each offer a different way to experience this extraordinary natural wonder.

GREAT BARRIER REEF

Come for Melbourne’s food, art and coffee culture, then venture beyond the city to the Great Ocean Road and Mornington Peninsula.

THINKING ABOUT AUSTRALIA OR NEW ZEALAND?

Whether you’re planning one destination or combining several stops,
we’ll help you make sense of the distance, timing and possibilities.

Often overlooked, Tasmania is worth the detour for its wild coastlines, beautiful landscapes and wonderfully untamed feel.

TASMANIA

For sheer natural beauty, this is hard to beat. Think Wanaka, glacier country, Milford Sound, Fiordland and Queenstown.

ASIA

Six years in Singapore. A much bigger world at her doorstep.

Living in Singapore gave Katy the opportunity to experience Asia not as a once-in-a-lifetime trip, but as a part of everyday life.

During her six years there, she traveled extensively throughout the region, experiencing everything from dynamic cities and cultural landmarks to beaches, islands and quieter corners that can be harder to navigate on a first visit.

That time abroad gave her a firsthand understanding of both the destinations themselves and the logistics of traveling through Asia—how to combine countries, where it makes sense to slow down and when a stopover is worth turning into part of the trip.

THINKING ABOUT ASIA?

From choosing the right destinations to figuring out how they fit together, we’ll help turn a part of the world that can feel complicated into a trip that feels surprisingly easy.

One of Asia’s most rewarding destinations to explore slowly. From Tokyo and Kyoto to smaller cities and the countryside, Japan combines extraordinary food, culture and hospitality with endless reasons to return.

JAPAN

Two countries that pair beautifully. From Vietnam’s historic cities, incredible food and river landscapes to the temples of Angkor, the combination creates tremendous variety without requiring enormous distances.

VIETNAM + CAMBODIA

Much more than Bali. Indonesia offers beautiful resorts, fascinating culture and extraordinary landscapes, with plenty of opportunity to combine relaxation with exploration.

INDONESIA

Big cities, deep history and an entirely different side of Asia. Katy’s travels through Hong Kong and China give her firsthand perspective on how to experience these destinations well—and how to make sense of the distances, logistics and incredible variety.
